According to Tokunbo Ifaturoti of TAAI PR Consultancy, whose team manages Queen Nigeria’s community development work portfolio, this phase of Queen Nigeria, Diamond Okoh’s reign is very inspiring.

“Her pet project titled ‘Go the Extra Mile with Diamond – Queen Nigeria’ revolves around making a difference in the lives of people especially children, youth and women living in Internally Displaced Camps due to a myriad of factors,” Tokunbo said.

“Diamond will have hands-on-experience in community development work, and is determined, through this project, to serve her nation with passion.”

Emphasizing that being the winner of a beauty pageant goes far beyond wearing a crown, Diamond said: “I want to be a role model to young girls desiring to win in beauty pageants. I believe it is extremely important to give back to the community and nation who voted me to become the winner.

“I appreciate NTA for hosting the edition of the pageant that produced me as the Queen and   Renault for providing the star prize of a car”, she said.

DJ Fresh Is Back On SA's Got Talent As A Judge Again.

SA’s Got Talent judge, DJ Fresh, talks about his journey to greatness with etv, how he stays motivated and keeps inspiring the people around him.
From the minute Thato Sikwane, aka Big Dawg, aka DJ Fresh, was shown the mic he knew that radio was his only career and has since earned himself the title as one of SA’s most popular mix masters.

What do you think sets you apart from people who've tried and not made it in the industry?

Humility will carry you when nothing else does. I don’t care how talented you are, if you don't have enough humility to open a couple of doors for you or soften people up, nobody is actually going to give you the time of day. So I think it’s important to stay humble but at the same time have the ability to reinvent yourself. There’s no reason that you can’t be on radio for 15 years. Just reinvent yourself. Hard work will always trump talent.

What are your greatest inspirations and what keeps you motivated?

To tell you the truth, I can’t really single out one person as a big inspiration. Because when I started Dj-ing, there wasn’t any career DJs. There was no one to look up to. I just knew in my head that I wanted to do this. I had to pretty much self-motivate. But what motivated me the most was people who said that I was going to fail. Yes, I remember all of you!

What was your biggest setback and how did you get through it?

I think the biggest challenge on this journey was convincing my parents that it was okay to flunk out of law school and pursue a radio career. I mean the relationship with my dad was pretty much nonexistent because of this. But now he is my biggest fan, I just need to get him to one of my gigs now.

If you could go back in time, is there anything that you would do differently?

Nothing, every single thing that I’ve been through, built me to the person that I am right now. So I’m content with my journey. Yes, there were some bad decisions that were made along the way but I don’t think that I’d be the wiser person I am today had I not tripped down and fallen along the way. I’m content.

Do you have a mantra or words to live by?

I've lived by this since I was probably 13 years old, ‘Find a way or make one.’ Half the time we feel discouraged because things are not going our way or we expect someone else to do things for you. But if you’re on your ass, then nothing is going to happen.

Birdman Casted And May Face The Music

Lil Wayne & Birdman

The man charged with shooting up Lil Wayne's tour bus has blown the whistle on Birdman  ... saying he should be behind bars too.

Jimmy Winfrey claims in new court docs he shouldn't be singled out for the crime, when "[Birdman's] financial dispute with [Lil Wayne] is what ultimately led to the shooting."

So, Winfrey argues, "[Birdman] should be held liable as a party to the crime."  He's not specifically saying Birdman ordered the hit, but essentially that's what he's saying.

As TMZ first reported, Wayne's tour bus was shot up back in April as he was leaving a club gig in Atlanta.

EFCC to hunt down sacked Nigerian official over $2.1 million cash seized at Lagos airport

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has finalized plans to declare former Executive Director of National Health Insurance Scheme,  Olufemi Thomas, over a $2.1 million (about N413million) suspected money laundering case.

A source at the commission said the EFCC has been on the trail of the former NHIS boss for weeks after a Bureau De Change operator, Ibiteye Bamidele, named him as the owner of a $2,198,900 cash, recovered from him by men of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency.

Mr. Bamidele was arrested on July 3 at the Murtala Mohammed Airport, Lagos, by officials of the NDLEA.

He was then handed over to the EFCC on July 8, for further investigation.

Mr. Olufemi Thomas
After Mr. Bamidele named the health insurance boss as the owner of the money, all efforts by the anti-graft agency to locate Mr. Thomas has been futile.

EFCC operatives, our source said, have combed every address associated with the suspect, including his known addresses in Lagos and Abuja.
Efforts were also made to locate him at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital in Lagos but that was also not successful.

The spokesperson for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed the intensive search for Mr. Thomas, and the plan to declare him wanted.
He also urged anyone with information on the whereabouts of Mr. Thomas to contact the commission or the nearest police station.

Mr. Thomas was sacked as CEO of the NHIS on April 28, 2015 by then President Goodluck Jonathan and replaced by Olufemi Akingbade.

The real reason for his sudden removal remained unknown.

The NDLEA had intercepted Mr. Bamidele, the Bureau De Change operator, while he was carrying US$2,198,900 at the domestic wing of the Murtala Mohammed Airport in Lagos.

The suspect, 46, was apprehended on his way to Abuja, the NDLEA said.

“Preliminary investigation conducted by the Assets and Financial Investigation Directorate of the NDLEA revealed that Ibiteye’s action is in contravention of the money laundering prohibition act 2011 as amended,” the anti-narcotics agency said in the statement by Mitchell Ofoyeju, its spokesperson.

“He alleged that the money belongs to one Dr. Martins Olufemi Thomas, a medical practitioner in Lagos. Investigation conducted by the Agency did not link the money to proceeds of narcotics.

“However, a country having insurgency challenge cannot afford to ignore suspicious movement of large amount of money.”

In his statement to the NDLEA, before he was handed over to the EFCC, Mr. Ibiteye said that he is a Bureau De Change operator.

“I used to work for Ebi Bureau De Change at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja before I established my company with the name ND&C Global Investment Limited which is yet to be fully registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC),” he said.

“One of my clients, Dr. Martins Olufemi Thomas gave me the said amount to take to Abuja. I was arrested by NDLEA officers while checking in the money at MM2 on my way to Abuja.”

Ahmadu Giade, NDLEA Chairman, then handed over the suspect and the cash to the EFCC for further action.
