The winner of the 2014/2015 edition of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Queen Nigeria Beauty Pageant, Diamond Okoh, has begun a series of humanitarian projects geared towards actualising the purpose behind the pageant.
Queen-Diamond-Okoh-Obiahu-(The twenty-one year old representing Ebonyi State who promised to uphold the dignity of girls and women and values of African-Nigerian culture in her present status, took a tour to some notable places within Lagos to seek their collaboration towards achieving the actualisation of her pet projects.
Recently, Diamond paid a courtesy visit to the Zonal Director of NTA Lagos Network Centre, Wole Coker, and the Vice President of Operations, Dana Cars and Services (Renault Motors) in Lagos, Joseph Fernandez, to appreciate them for their effort towards the success of the pageant and to further solicit their continuous support for the Queen Nigeria project.
According to Tokunbo Ifaturoti of TAAI PR Consultancy, whose team manages Queen Nigeria’s community development work portfolio, this phase of Queen Nigeria, Diamond Okoh’s reign is very inspiring.
“Her pet project titled ‘Go the Extra Mile with Diamond – Queen Nigeria’ revolves around making a difference in the lives of people especially children, youth and women living in Internally Displaced Camps due to a myriad of factors,” Tokunbo said.
“Diamond will have hands-on-experience in community development work, and is determined, through this project, to serve her nation with passion.”
“Her pet project titled ‘Go the Extra Mile with Diamond – Queen Nigeria’ will serve as a conduit for sustainable difference to families living in Internally Displaced Camps. It is set to indeed make a measurable change”, Tokunbo added.
Emphasizing that being the winner of a beauty pageant goes far beyond wearing a crown, Diamond said: “I want to be a role model to young girls desiring to win in beauty pageants. I believe it is extremely important to give back to the community and nation who voted me to become the winner.
“I appreciate NTA for hosting the edition of the pageant that produced me as the Queen and Renault for providing the star prize of a car”, she said.
Unlike most beauty pageants, Queen Nigeria is culturally inclined with elements meant to enhance the restoration of lost values in the Nigerian woman.
